Declare Your Identity In Christ

business, paper, coffee

Food for thought: What do you think your life would look like if you REALLY started to walk in your true identity in Christ?

My guess is that those thoughts of insecurity, doubt, feelings of overwhelm, and self-doubt would completely vanish.

So now, whether you are a new infant in Christ or maybe you’ve been a woman of faith for a long time and you just need daily reminders about your identity. Or MAYBE you’ve been carrying around your failures and mistakes for far too long and you just don’t know what your identity in Christ means.

Sometimes it’s hard to accept what Christ says about us because of our past (definitely been guilty of this). We also have a WORLD full of distractions prying for our identity including a Deceiver that seeks every moment to slide in and steal and destroy what Christ freely gives and it is easy to question or waver in our true identity.

This is why I love that God Himself says in Proverbs 15:9 says, “The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.” So understand, you will never be perfect! It is Christ who is made perfect in US! Pursue is to take steps — imperfect steps at that. So even if at times we waver, all over Davids story especially in the Book of Psalms we are reminded that David had a heart after God and God LOVED THAT!

So today, I encourage you to take heart! Christ has overcome the world and what He gives is more powerful than anything that comes against us! (What a blessing)

The more we ground ourselves in God’s Word and declare our Identity in Christ, the more confidently we will walk out our faith!

Why is it important to declare Identity?

Have you ever heard the quote that if you don’t stand for anything you will fall for anything?

This could not be more true of our identity! The reason why the deceiver can deceive us allowing our thoughts to take over us and us thinking those are our identity is because just like how the world teaches –“Speak what you want” — guess what, SO does God! Infact, that is a Godly principle they make their own. Proverbs 18:21  tells us “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”

Know this, the More we learn our identity in Christ– the more we are able to truly stand on Him as our Rock and speak only LIFE and no longer worry, fear, doubt, self-doubt, insecurity (even if these conversations are all internal).

Bible affirmations are SO important in Claiming your identity (coming soon to you in an ebook! subscribe to be the first to find out!)

1. IT is a MUST to claim your Identity!

When you become a follower of Jesus Christ (by saying the sinner’s prayer- please message me if you are not sure you have said it) , you immediately become a daughter of the King of kings!

Your Heavenly Father sees you as His very own and sees you through the lens of Jesus Christ.

You have been claimed!

Your life is no longer identified as a sinner or the one that fails all the time or the one not good enough or the one that could never get it right or the one lost in shame. Jesus died for you and He gave you Himself.

He took what was broken and made you whole in Him. (So amazing!) It is not because of us or what we do, but because of what Jesus did for US!

Jesus suffered and died so that we could be made right with God ~ 2 Corinthians 5:21

Versatile Woman, let me tell you! Accepting Jesus as your Savior and walking in your identity in Christ is the greatest journey you could ever accept and take!

2. Why your identity needs to be accepted

The world we live in is so broken! It is messy and completely always seeking for that next thing or even approval.

Its’s appealing and tempting. Sometimes we flirt it with trying to be identified in the world.

On top of this, you have a great enemy, a deceiver, that prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

His biggest tactic is to lie and truly he has you set up for failure by the fearful fantasy. He knows that if he can keep you trapped in your past mistakes, covered in shame, consumed with anxiousness and worry, and a slave to failure then he can continue to whisper lies of your worth.

I want to encourage you today to celebrate how far you have come and know that there is nothing you can do except accept what Jesus did for you on the cross that deems you worth of His love! Truly that is enough.

If you’ve never known spiritual warfare is real, but guess what? You are on the winning team so ultimately the deceiver has ALREADY been defeated! Jesus Christ claims victory over every single lie that’s been spoken to you. He did this at the cross!

When you know who you are in Christ you armor yourself agains the schemes and strategies of the devil!

This is why it is so important to have time with God (start small if you need to, but simply set the time daily) and be rooted in God’s Word to soak up the truths of the bible! So, Raise Your Sword! This is God’s fight you’re a part of.

He covers you, protects you, and will never leave you. When you know your identity in Christ, you are ready for war and able to take on what comes!

With Christ in you, you are a prayer warrior, a grace-giver, forgiven and able to Forgive Others, Set Free, and Accepted.

The deceiver (devil) hates this and will stop at nothing to make you question and doubt your identity. Sadly, we have warriors all around us that do not know the power they possess in Christ.

We need to come alongside each other and affirm our identity in Christ! Lift each other up and Be women of grace because we are different from the world.

3. Live out your Identity in Christ

Simply put– just like how anytime someone has said something positive or negative to us about us, we take it into account and more often than not take it as our identity–do the same with what Christ says about you!

When we live knowing our identity in Christ, our posture is different, our love breaks barriers. Our prayers bring power. Our hope is Living. All of this is because of Christ in us!

Our lives no longer need to be crippled. He revives our souls, gives us new life, and freedom to walk out our days! WE no longer have to abide by our thoughts, but by His. Our confidence no longer is about us but who Christ is and what his blood and history has a record of doing.

This is available to you, take it. You are a blood-bought daughter of the King!

When this is realized and accepted, our families are transformed, our marriages are revitalized, and our world is reached by the good news of Jesus Christ! We feel so much joy and are  so excited to share what Christ has freely given us!
