Welcome back! If it is your first time, WELCOME!! I pray this read adds value to you today!
Today’s topic will be based upon Proverbs 29:18 that states, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
We all might have heard of Alice and Wonderland and there’s a key conversation she has with Casmiere Cat where she asks him “Can you tell me which way you want to go?” and he responds, “That really depends where you want to go.” and she tells him, ” I don’t have a care really where I want to go.” and he responds saying “Then it really doesn’t matter where you go”.
To me that was a great example of showing us that if we do not have a vision that we will be moved in directions we don’t want to go in and we will not get to where we say we want to go thats like to deciding to on a hike and not having a map so you do not have direction nor an end goal… your chances of getting lost are at an all time high.
If you stop to think and dwell, there are ideas of what we want our lives to look like that have been with us and I believe that what has not left your mind is something you are to pursue. So today I want to help you take that next step in really asking yourself, “What are some key things I see happening in my life?”. To confirm this, I always go back to God and ask Him to hone this vision that has been on my heart and then to lead, guide and direct me.
Of course, YES God will always lead us even in things within our journey we did not see coming. However, there is one key that MUST be done in order for the vision to become fulfilled and for you to continue to be led by it…
HOW TO CREATE A LIFE VISION
The first step toward fulfillment and purpose (or greatness as Lewis Howes calls it) is to define a vision for yourself. A vision is what you see in your future. It’s not a specific goal. A goal is what you do to take steps to move toward your vision. Your vision is your why. It’s your values and your purpose in life. Your vision is what keeps you excited and motivated.
If you don’t know what you want in life, that’s okay. But that’s where you should start. You need to figure out what you want. Otherwise, you are just reacting to what comes your way. You’re wandering. Try something — anything. Just get started. You can always change your vision. The point is to be intentional so that you’re creating the life you want and not living someone else’s.
By creating a vision for yourself, by defining what you want in life, you are on your way to fulfillment – you’re on your way to greatness.
Practically speaking, start by writing down your vision. God told Habbakuk in the Bible in Habbakuk 2:2-3
2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
There is such power in writing. I tell people this all the time. It has worked wonders for me. I write down my goals, my plans, and I also journal. Writing gives my thoughts a reality that wouldn’t otherwise exist. So, if you want to make a positive change toward more fulfillment, start by writing down your vision.
After your vision is written you can now take the steps necessary to making the goals for the vision. We will talk about goals another day, but I really wanted to emphasize vision because even myself, I have written the vision and at times not opened my notebook back up and then have wondered why I am lost or why I have not hit goals. Since I decided to start back looking at my vision daily, not only does it fuel me but it keeps me expectant of the future as I work in the present. I am already excited about the millions that will get directly and indirectly get impacted through my businesses. I am already excited about the house we are going to build. I am already excited about driving my dream car… and in the process of it all, I am excited about the woman I am becoming because I have sat and written my vision, but then I have confirmed with God WHO He has called me to be and WHO He wants me to become.
I encourage you today to write your vision… ask yourself in detail.. WHAT DO I WANT? WHO DO I WANT TO BECOME? and then take it to God and let Him direct your path as you take the actions you need to towards the vision.
As a disclaimer, the Bible says “Delight yourself in God and He will give you the desires of your heart”… YES and NO… the desires must be in alignment with HIS will for your life… but trust me, life has a way of having reoccurring thoughts and actions that lead you to see how it is His will… (we will talk about this soon, but just hold on to that for today).. a quick example, I have always seen myself on stage, but when I wrote it in my vision and started working towards it… the DETAILS of who, when, where, and why… are totally up to God.
So Who do you want to become? What has always been on your mind/heart? — those play into your vision!
